An early morning traffic accident Monday involving an SUV and sedan near the intersection of North Milpitas Boulevard and Jacklin Road resulted in the death of one driver, Milpitas police say.

At 5:53 a.m., police officers responded to the report of two vehicles, a Toyota Highlander and a Toyota Camry, crashing at the location. The driver of the Camry, an unidentified woman, was killed as a result of the collision. The other unidentified driver sustained minor injuries, police said.

There were no other occupants in either vehicle, police said.

As a result of the collision, road detours and closures occurred through the area Monday morning. Police said northbound lanes on North Abel Street at Redwood Avenue were closed, while southbound lanes of North Milpitas Boulevard at Jacklin Road were closed.  Also, vehicle traffic on westbound Jacklin Road was diverted to northbound North Milpitas Boulevard. Affected roads were expected to open later today, police said.
